Opening
The Council meeting opened at approximately 2:00 pm (UTC) on October 18, 2024. It was noted that proper notice had been provided to the Council in accordance with the Bylaws. Five of the Council Members were in attendance and the meeting had a quorum. The Council consented to the appointment of certain third-party notetakers and attendees.
It was noted that certain Council discussions would be sufficiently sensitive that they should be excluded from meeting notes according to the Bylaws, such as conversations about protocol security and topics protected by NDAs. These minutes have excluded certain sensitive details concerning such subject matter.
Forta Network Update
The Council received a presentation regarding activity in the Forta Network since the last meeting. It was noted that participation in the various network roles remained robust and healthy and that the Foundation’s efforts had been focused on implementing Forta Proposal 7 (FP-7) following its approval by FORT token holders on September 26, 2024 via a Snapshot vote.
Forta Firewall
The Council received a presentation regarding the efforts of the Forta Firewall working group. It was noted that the Firewall threat detection and prevention solution was undergoing thorough testing and was expected to go live for production usage in November, subject to the timing of initial protocol users being ready to integrate Firewall. Discussion ensued regarding the technical functionality of Firewall and the integration process for different types of protocols, including roll-ups, layer 2 networks, and DeFi protocols.
The varying use cases for Firewall were discussed and the performance of Firewall in testing compared to similar offerings in the market. The Council discussed ease of adoption of Firewall for various types of blockchains and related applications and it was concluded that learnings from initial users should inform future approaches to decentralization and pricing.
Financial Update
The Council reviewed the operational expenses of the Foundation and its funding efforts in the Forta community and it was concluded that the Foundation remained in a healthy position to continue to carry out its mission.
